Tomas Tranströmer & Robert Hass

I was delighted that Tomas Tranströmer won the Nobel prize – I’ve known his poems for years, and he’s one of a handful of poets that I can’t imagine life without.

I’ve been working in some really interesting places recently, not least with the students and teachers of the Guru Nanak Sikh Academy in London.

I was sorry to miss Robert Hass at the Aldeburgh Poetry Festival last weekend – his Apple Trees at Olema: New & Selected Poems is superb, particularly the New Poems.
