Developing teachers’ creative writing skills

I’m very much looking forward to leading this seminar for writers in schools in my home town, Birmingham, on Thursday for NAWE and Writing West Midlands:

How Do We Develop Teachers’ Creative Writing Skills?

Thursday 10 June 2010, 10.00am – 4.00pm
Highbury Hall Conference & Banqueting, 4 Yew Tree Road, Moseley, Birmingham, B13 8QG

Literacy, creative writing and creativity are hot topics in education at the moment, and a lot of the debate centres on the skills of teachers. This seminar will look at how to improve your skills in providing INSET sessions in creative writing to teachers in schools at all levels. It is aimed at writers new to teacher development, or those who wish to refresh their skills. It will provide an up-to-date lively day of discussion, useful exercises and sharing of good practice. The day is invaluable for any writer working in a school context.

This seminar is in partnership with Writing West Midlands, the Literature Development agency for the West Midlands region. Writing West Midlands currently manages Write On! (writing education programme), the Birmingham Book Festival (festival and year-round events programme) and The Writers’ Toolkit (writer-networking programme). Their website is <www.writingwestmidlands.org>.
