Flying: A Poetics (extracts)

I’ve just posted a new page here: Flying: A Poetics (extracts). The full text (which is substantially longer: nearly 5,000 words including footnotes and references) can be found in  Troubles Swapped for Something Fresh: Manifestos and Unmanifestos edited by Rupert Loydell (Salt Publishing). The first version (25,000 words excluding references) formed a chapter in my PhD on Poetry and Poetics: ‘The Poetry of Process’. I wrote an article for English in Education which draws on issues raised in ‘Flying’, in the context of discussing teaching students how to write poetry:  ‘Writing like writers in the classroom: free writing and formal constraint’ published online June 2008, Vol 41 Issue 3.
